Our energy practice covers oil and gas, mining and power.
We advise on both upstream and downstream activities. We have negotiated several bidding agreements, memoranda of understanding, production sharing contracts (PSCs), joint operating agreements (JOAs), service agreements, gas sale agreements and power purchase agreements.
Our lawyers have advised mining companies on establishment and operation in Nigeria under the Mineral and Mining Act, a legislation which one of our partners, Kunle Mesele, was instrumental in drafting.
We assist our clients in interfacing with power regulators and also assist regulators and quasi-regulators in the formulation of policy and regulation. Transaction-wise, we assist clients in setting up efficient legal structures for power transactions, particularly as relate to power sale and project financing.
Lawbridge's clients include international and independent oil and gas companies, oil and gas service companies, independent power producers (IPPs) and mining companies.
Infrastructure Law
Lawbridge provides legal services to support the provision of a wide range of public infrastructure including transport, water, electricity, roads, rural and urban development.
Our experience in this regard includes the drafting of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreements, public and private bid processing and support, government advisory, legislative drafting and project financing.
We have particular expertise in structuring simple but efficient project consortia and transaction mechanics.
Legislative Drafting
Lawbridge is pioneering a legislative drafting practice designed to support national development. We assist all levels of government to draft laws which clearly communicate the intention of the legislature and avoid errors and contradictions that befuddle implementation.
We also review trends in other jurisdictions and constantly advise governments on which new laws and amendments are needed to drive good governance.
We consult for governments and the legislature on the constitutionality of proposed legislation and how such legislation would interact with existing ones in practice.
